My name is Misty Entremont, your current President of The Shadows at Manchac HOA.  I have represented our neighborhood association over the past four years, when I decided to become a member of the landscaping committee.  In October 2019, I became the secretary of the Shadows at Manchac HOA Board, and since then, I have carried the position as President for the last three years.  I grew up in Texas and moved here to Louisiana in 2017.  I am a mother of an 8-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl.  My passion is gardening and landscaping and you will often find me at the front weeding and maintaining the flower bed alongside many of our neighborhood volunteers.  I enjoy managing our community and am continuously trying to find ways to improve our neighborhood.  My main goal for being on the HOA is to help maintain and increase property values, along with making our neighborhood one of the most attractive and sought-after neighborhoods in Ascension Parish.  There are many things that the HOA and our volunteers have accomplished over the years while I have been President.  Goals that we have accomplished during my role as HOA President include the following:

• Met with the Ascension Drainage Board and fought on behalf of the subdivision to improve the drainage (work is scheduled to commence in the following months)
• Amended restrictions so that it is clear and easy to understand
• The first restrictions were prepared by the developer (generic template required before developing) and desperately needed to be revised. The transfer of rights was also signed over to the HOA since that was never done from the developer to the HOA
• Approximately 95 percent of HOA members have paid the annual dues
• Met with lawyers and continue to fight restrictions that are not in compliance
• Upgrade the flowerbed at the entrance of the neighborhood
• Adding benches at the soccer field (common lot)
• Added flowerbeds and landscaping at the soccer field (common lot)
• Adding brick column to front entrance
• Designed and created the sign and message board for column
• Replaced soccer goal nets and recently replaced both soccer goals
• Added mulch multiple times to playground
• Soft washed playground set in back
• Added benches to back and planted crepe myrtles
• Established a new management contract with Magnolia Management
• Continue to stay up-to-date on all emails and communication with HOA Members concerns and suggestions
• Submitting bids and hiring lawn vendor
• Yard of the Month Committee
• Coordinating and planning all holiday events (Fall festival, Christmas event, Easter egg hunt, etc.)

When I first decided to take a position on the HOA Board, I was not fully educated on how to do the job.  With lots of education and help I have been able to accomplish many amazing things for all of us. At times this has often felt like a full-time job, but I am thankful to my family and all homeowners for their patience and understanding.  I would like to encourage everyone to be a part of the community, and if becoming a Board Member does not appeal to you, please come join one of our committees.  This neighborhood would not exist if it wasn’t for the awesome members who dedicate their time in making this a wonderful place for our families to live. I am always happy to hear your concerns and will do my best at finding a solution.

My goal this year is to accomplish many projects that help make our neighborhood aesthetically pleasing and help raise property values.  As a member of the Board, I promise to serve with transparency, dignity, and integrity.  I’m super excited about this year and the future of The Shadows at Manchac!
